Default Electrical Problems

Hi all, I am getting some strange electrical issues. Initial symptoms were tailgate deployed, locks lock & unlock randomly, hazard lights turning on and off, alarm going off & difficulty starting. These symptoms killed battery. I disconnected and took the battery ( Duralast Gold) to Autozone for charge and test. They said battery was good & charging system was good. All was good for a few days now I am getting random lock & unlock issue and randomly telling me my emergency break is engaged while driving. The battery I am a little suspect about it seems wet on top around some of the edges. Battery is reading 12.4V after driving. Is it worth swapping battery after Autozone confirmed it was ok, or just take it to dealer to likely have BCM replaced? I check the grounds that I could see, and all seem nice and tight.

Thanks in advance!

Random issues like this are almost always created by 3 possible reasons: a battery on its way out, a bad ground somewhere (search for bad grounds, several posts showing which to check), or water in a BLIS tail light (if equipped).

Thank you both, I check all suggestions and ended up getting a new battery. I drove the truck a good bit today, and didn't have any issue. I think battery was the problem.

Update - Ford had my truck for 6 weeks. The BCM was replaced and that did not fix the problem. This issue was in the overhead sunroof controls that contain the interior alarm sensors. They replaced this and the problem was fixed.

Good morning. Would you please send over a private message with your VIN and dealer info so I can look into this concern with your F-150?

The dealer replaced the whole overhead control cluster. It is the cluster that contains the controls for sunroof, rear window, interior alarms, sunglass holder etc... It is located right above the rearview mirror.

Sure. I’ll send a message… but my truck is past 150k miles (152k to be exact) and the local dealer has already told me “too bad so sad” on the Field Service Action Number 2OMO4.
