Default electrical gremlin??

ON rare occasion my back up camera screen takes a second or two to pop up. Today things got weird; put in R, no camera so I back up old school, when I look back at my dash i realize it is entirely black except the gear indicator which still shows P. shut it down removed key and then restarted -same thing, a few yards down the road i realize my front windows will not go down, and no power to the a/c, fan, etc. less than a minute later everything comes back on including chimes, first message on dash says something about 'Hill assist" not being available then check manual with a little wrench. Any advise??

First thing to check is your battery. With these trucks, when the battery gets weak, the voltage may drop too low during an engine start, for some of the modules to boot up when they should. This then causes all sorts of weird things to happen. Check your main grounds as well. The important ones are the main ground, on the inner side of the passenger side fender, just in front of the washer reservoir. The other ground to check is on the firewall next to the PCM. There may also be a second firewall ground, depending on the year and engine, closer to the brake booster.

Thank you, getting on that right now. 3 and 1/4 years old but that doesn't mean the battery isn't going, even though it should last longer than that??

These trucks can be hard on batteries. Covid was hard on batteries.

Did the battery replacement and checking grounds fix the problem? I just had same thing happen yesterday.

Check the ground down by the bcm and fuse box in the passenger foot well. It causes all kinds of unexplainable problems. Mine was looser than finger tight and since tightening I've had no other problems

Well, I pulled ground terminal at battery then removed kick panel on passenger side and snugged up ground next to BCM/fuse panel, then replaced ground terminal - much to my surprise everything is working. Thanks a lot Raider889 for the advice!

Was it actually loose like mine was? There was a mechanic on YouTube that said he replaced a lot of BCM's because of this.

Yes it was finger loose. Hopefully it stays tight, but I'll keep an eye on it.
Thanks, again for the advice.
