All stock Ford shocks are junk. I put Fox 2.5 resis on my 2015 F250....absolutely night and day difference.

I needed to subscribe to this thread. I'm almost the same age as the two of you. I thought the same about me doing a build and hauling *** from place to place but then thought for what. I never thought I'd lower a car/truck again but this makes me seriously consider it. I'd like to see more pics. on both these builds. I was originally thinking of a 5.0 and doing a supercharger but I'm going with the 3.5 with just a progammer possibly a thermostat and plugs. I'm getting a 17' 2wd and thinking of putting some 20's maybe I'll look into 22" with a rear drop. I don't want a bad ride and can you tell me what the difference from stock to lowered ride quality. Did you feel any difference with a sway bar on the rear. The wheels I was looking at were black rhino Karoo and XD818 heist in black.

Thanks....

I've got the pro-truck lift struts and they ride great so far. Got tired of waiting on bilstein to come out with the 5100s. I've used Eibach springs and camber kits on other vehicles and they always have good quality products.

Well, mostly this is correct. I bought/used Eibach Sportlines on both my Neon SRT-4 and my Altima SER. A lil better on the SER but man.... alot to be desired....so stiff

Fordfun

I like those Black Rhino's...I am a sucker for a clean 5 spoke design.

The ride of my truck with the McGaughy 2/4 drop is pretty decent overall. The weak point is the dampers. I was seriously considering doing helper airbags in the rear. It is not too often but from time to time I feel it bounce off the bumpstops.

The Helwig rear sway is a great upgrade. It does its job but again would benefit from better shocks / struts. I want to feel like my truck is planted when I corner.

I am probably biased because my previous cars include:

Focus SVT (not very powerful but fun...and those factory Recaros...drool!)
STI
VW's (Mk1 GTi, Mk3 GLX, Mk1 Scirocco with ABA transplant)
- even had a Mk3 Golf with Spax suspension, not the fastest but **** could it corner

Yeah the Sportline springs are known for an aggressive drop. Hard to get a decent ride with the car slammed to the ground... But I bet it looked really good though!

Haha I had an old VW GTI as I recall I did a spring and shock set up on this, I can't remember what manufacturer perhaps eibach. I had the upper strut bars and lower sway bars. Around the corners I was a 2 wheeler it was sooooo stiff. Or maybe that's what she said, sorry could't help myself. Anyways back on topic. I don't want extra bounce, I want a quality ride. I don't mind replacing out the suspension for aftermarket if it helps. I'm already hearing from some that the 15' up are bouncing due to lack of weight or weight removal from steel to aluminum. I'd say lack of engineering to compensate for the weight loss.... Anywho, I'm going to continue to see what's available and go from there. Let me know what you guys find out.

I know this thread is a couple months old but it seems like using the Fox or even the Eibach struts(4wd) with McGauphy's drop sleeve would possibly result in better weight transfer on a hard launch. May be worth it to someone with higher horsepower or looking to put power to the ground in a 2wd.

Still waiting for Eibach to release 2wd versions of their struts and shocks.
