Today I dropped my 2015 F150 King Ranch V8 off at the service department for the 4th time because of a recurring electrical problem. Feel free to search for my thread titled 'First Electrical Gremlin' to read for yourself. Unlike the first three service visits, I was offered a loaner vehicle, a 2015 F150 Platinum 3.5 EcoBoost w/3.31 axle.

First impression...WOW!!! This thing is wicked fast and that was BEFORE trying sport mode. In sport mode I felt like I was driving a big *** - high riding *** sports car! I was purposefully seeking red lights to get that off the line, pushed back in seat, adrenaline rush. Even the "fake" engine noise I didn't mind because it provided instantaneous music to my ears in ways my V8 does not, unless of course you really step on it.

2nd Observation.... With the exception of cosmetic stuff, the vehicles are optioned the exact same. However, my wife and I both think the Platinum drives more solidly and sure footed than my KR, even when it was brand new. Weird I know but my KR always seemed bouncy which I assumed was normal until tonight.

- Props to all my fellow KR owners!
- Props to all my fellow V8 owners!
- Props to all the Platinum owners! I like everything except the shiny wood pieces.

- Last but certainly not least, MAJOR PROPS to all the EcoBoost owners!!!

Amen! I traded a '13 KR ECO on a '15 just like it. I drove a 5.0 just for kicks before buying the new EB and just wasn't impressed. You leave a light and mash it halfway and ummmm just wait for the revs to get going :-( With the turbos just hit it a go! The torque is addicting and that's what you want in a truck IMO.

The EcoBoost engine definitely is a beast, that is for certain. If you think that felt strong you wouldn't believe how they run with an extra 90+ HP at the tire from just a tank of 93 octane and a solid tune. Here is a good example of our least powerful stage 1 tune for 87 octane against a stock one like you drove.

We have a very similar tune for the 5.0 F150s that would be about the same looking as a side by side comparison.

I've been very impressed with every EcoBoost I've driven. May I ask why you didn't try one out before you bought your 5.0? Just seems like a good idea to try both before you buy.

I'm sure the 5.0 is an excellent motor. The EB is ever so slightly more excellent 😁

I have zero regrets for buying the V8. The point of my post was to give props to the EcoBoost owners since this forum has seen a fair share of "My motor is better than yours" posts.

BTW, Stock was very limited when my truck was purchased. There was only one loaded KR in a 25 mile radius and it happened to be a V8.

No issues man, just curious. I envy your KR very much, regardless of engine 😁
