Default Ecoboost Bracket

Mery Chriatmas all

The previous model EB trucks had the front plate set to the side in the black rectangle next to the turbo cooler intake.

I have a question about the front license plate brackets for those of us that unfortunately live in states that require a plate on the front. (Illinois does probably so they can suck any extra $$ they can)

My current 16 XL Sport 4x4 SCrew has the plate in a bracket in front of the lower opening. I also notice this on other current gen F150's

1. Does this affect the flow to the turbo cooler since they did not want it blocked on precious generation?

2. Do the active shutters regulate air flow enough that it does not matter any longer and that's why they switched back to the flimsy bracket?

3. Would the old style side inset brackets fit the new trucks as I thought they may look different.

4. If not has anyone seen if there is an option to purchase this said bracket for the current gen.

Thanks for your thoughts

1. I say yes, at the plte blocks 75% of the cac opening

2. Yes, the shutters infront of the cac, open and close depending on outside temp.

3. No, tottally different.

4. No, either remove the plate altogether. Or drill holes in the black plastic to right or left of the opening, and mount plate there to the solid bumper plastic.

I chose to remove mine altogether, more for aesthetics than function!

Thank you for the info.

I think I will just mount it on the side when I get home for the holidays. As I would like the truck to breath if it wants to.

I would just remove it altogether but I need to have the front plate by law and if not clearly visible the Illinois tollway will fine me!!

I would either remove the bracket altogether and run the risk of being stopped and possibly ticketed OR modify the bracket like I did to allow more airflow and still be legal. Took about 10min with a dremel. I used some weatherstripping to protect the paint where the bracket comes in contact with the bumper. The mount is still very solid and does not move around. See photos.

That's a really good idea! I'm going to give this a shot since my encounter with a state trooper yesterday.

Looks good. I think I will be doing this myself.

Thank you for the great idea!
