When the steering gets sloppy, you will appreciate it. It is much better in the Fusion and Lincoln, but they are CARS, and not TRUCKS, so yeah, they will be better by default. When it is working properly it does the jobb it is meant to, assist staying in the lane. It is in no way a replacement for driving, but there in case you get distracted while typing that text message to your hottie.

Totally worthless technology. You should probably take a taxi or Uber if you don’t ant to drive your own car.

I find the LKA not only annoying but actually detrimental. It will pull you further over the line while it tries to "help" you.

Not sure why the Japanese can do such a better job.

But overall I am extremely pleased with my new truck. A huge improvement over my 1997 F150.
We too had a 2018 CRV with it. It malfunctioned a few times. It sometimes brakes HARD when nothing is in front of it. Honda is preparing to do a recall on it so says the Forums.

So are you considering buying a truck to use as a truck or just to have lane assist? In my opinion the lane assist function wouldn't even be on my radar when buying a truck.

I hate this kind of tech, but I don't know why the trucks are so far behind. My wife's Rogue has an autopilot that will keep not only keep it in the lane, but will follow the car in front of her and will even come to a complete stop and resume without doing anything. Good for stop-and-go traffic because it just follows the traffic on its own. But kinda strange, and my trust in it is near zero. Still pretty damn cool to have that feature in a decent price range for a Nissan Rogue compared to many other much more expensive cars that have this kind of tech.

What ever happened to 'driving'? The gist of this thread seems to be all about the expectation that the vehicle should be the 'driver'. That's insane. I don't want to meet up with someone on the road with this kind of attitude. If you think you need some electronic something to keep your vehicle in the lane you in, maybe you should consider taking the bus. Personally, I think the expectations of some people for this kind of nannytech is dangerous.

I am approaching 40 years of licensed driving. Some how I have manage to survive without computer nannies helping me drive the vehicles. I must be superhuman or something. When I get into a vehicle in the driver's seat I actually pay attention and drive. All these "safety features" are doing nothing but creating bad drivers. Lane assist, auto braking, etc. Gee, let's take an overly distracted society and give them aids to allow them to stay distracted.

Exactly, not only ^ that ^ but this further encourages people to spend their time texting, surfing the web or whatever because it will be so easy to do. And what happens if it makes a mistake or malfunctions and you get in a crash? Still your fault. I've heard of the automatic braking system being set off by mistake and the vehicle suddenly slamming the brakes. If someone rearends you, who's fault is it? People need to just drive. It only encourages distraction and complacency.

Exactly!! I dont trust a machine driving me around. It works great to a point but there's no way I'd fully trust it. Like you said take an Uber or taxi if you want to be driven around. I'm not a fan of that autopilot junk.
