Default drop hitch

How much of a drop are you guys getting on your hitch? I have a 4x4 std height, thinking a 3" drop hitch should put most trailers fairly level?

Depends too much on the trailer and tongue weight, and whether it has brakes and what kind.

ALWAYS buy an adjustable ball mount.
ALWAYS. Buy once, cry once.

I have had a 6" drop hitch for years. It is perfect for my utility trailer.

It will vary but 2-3" drop is probably the most common for most stock height 1/2 tons.

2" works great for me. Don't forget the trailer tongue weight will compress the truck's rear springs a little.

Yeah, but my utility trailer tongue weight is only about 30 or 40 pounds, fully loaded.

This is what I run. Bought a few years ago. Pricey I know. I dislike towing with a non-adjustable after having this for a while.

If you'd don't want to drop the coin on a hitch like this I would probably go with a 3 inch drop or more if it is light.

Not sure what you're trying to pull but I have a 16.5' Lund fishing boat and a 6" drop makes the trailer for it perfectly level.
