They have two DRL configurations, either non-configurable (can't be turned off), or configurable (able to be turned on or off). So, all trucks come with DRL's in some form but the conditions they come on with varies with if they're configurable or not. I think in the menu on your dash it's in the "Advanced Settings" section that you can only change when stopped. From there, it should be in the "Vehicle" section, then "Lighting".

my apologies for the delay, all the service records are in the US. It was briefly in Michigan and the went across the US towing loads. I was able to contact the former owner as it was a business that owned the truck. I did find lighting but it doesn't give an "advanced" prompt anywhere. I can do daytime lighting but that only seems to control the headlights lowbeams

Is there a way that I could change this for my headlights? I assume mine are the non-config type as the only control the lowbeams and nothing else. My apologies, this is confusing as I don't have any experience with this kind of stuff.

Your headlights are your DRL, the low beams are on at a slightly lower voltage. Your menu choice is lighting under the advanced menu, your only choice is yes or no for drl’s.

Well that solves everything!

A misunderstanding of DRL I believe.

If you are in drive with the conditions met and the headlights come on during the day -your DRL system is functional.
I think your are defining DRL as a certain light that is illuminated only when conditions are met. While that is true, in your model year it is the headlights that are dual-duty in that they light up as the DRL system.
DRL=Daytime Running Lights. Different manufacturers assign different lights to perform this function. Ford choose headlights for a while.
With that said, I think Ford has one of the best systems. My GM vehicle turned them on automatically (not Canadian) but the user could switch them off every time. And they were on the whole time the vehicle was. With Ford offering 2 methods to enable/disable AND they only operate when in Drive is just the best. Means you're not blinding people in a parking lot while you lazily sit in a parking spot waiting for your significant other in the grocery store!

On the GM I had, if you used the emergency brake the DRL's would shut off, so you could sit in a parking lot.

Ahh, I wonder if mind would do that then. It was 2008.
I never used DRL on that vehicle and I've been trained for too many years to not use headlights in a parking lot -for the most part. ha
Good to know though that the system could be defeated while still being lazy.
