Default Driver side blend door

I know there has been a lot of discussion on this but. Blend door actuator has been replaced 3 times. Dash taken out and all doors greased. Wiring checked. HVAC recharged. Dealer now says there is a broken piece on evaporator housing causing problem. I can lay down in floorboard and move temp control and actuator moves sometimes and sometimes it don’t. I think it’s not receiving a proper signal. Dealer has reset actuators. Any ideas. I’m at a loss and fixing to trade if this evaporator housing replacement doesn’t work. And I don’t think it will.

Vents move easily by hand. Dealer just took dash out and lubricated everything. My problem seems to be that the actuator doesn’t move when I turn the temperature control ****. The actuator has been replaced 3 times already with OEM actuator.

Seems odd for the actuator failure rate. If all works as it should manually, seems some wire or connection is the problem. You don't have critters in the area? mice love wires. Good luck

Thanks. Dealership is scratching their head on this one. They want to replace the evaporator housing said it had a broken piece on it. I’ve got my doubts on this to fix the problem.

I’ve had similar issues on my 2018. I have always been skeptical about blend door being the culprit and think it is an evaporator problem.

If I stop for 10 min and shut the truck off, a huge pool of water runs out behind the wheel, when I resume driving, the ac often works well again.

If I take the actuator off the gear and start the truck the arm of the actuator will go a full 360 degrees that’s why it gets in a bind and won’t work. But if I let it go completely around then re attach to gear while the truck is running it controls like it should. But turn it off and restart and same problem again. Like it’s not getting a signal where to stop on startup. Very frustrating

Just talked to service manager. He says if I start the truck with the actuator off the gear and it spins around 360 degrees then this ruins the actuator. Says it is pre set from factory and the actuator won’t function properly. IDK just what he said

You are not suppose to put power to the actuator, until it is screwed in place. Are the actuators Motorcraft brand?

Yes they are oem actuators. That might explain failure rate.
