I just got the new IWE's today. They are made in America. That's good news. They come completely greased up from the factory so I haven't opened them up yet.

 

Installed the new ones today. Very good quality and, yes, the axle noise is gone. Does anyone want to try these Dorman's out? Paypal me $30 and I'll ship them to you. I paid about $90 plus shipping for them. They only have about 1000 miles on them. Send me a PM for info.

 

What happen to good old american ingenuity. I think I am going to take my old IWE's apart just too see how impossible it would be for them to work in reverse. The vacuum should engage them not disengage them. I do not see that many 4 x 4 trails around. Really Ford fail on is stupid does nothing for reliability ! I beleive my Iwe's have a hard time dis-engaging because of the slop in the cv shafts and spindle bearings. It is stupid Ford has them engaging the first half mile after you start the truck. It seems like some aftermarket manufacturer could remedy this problem and make millions. This is my third Ford 4 wheel drive 1975 f-100, 1990 F-150 and now 2020 F-150 5.0 4 x 4 I think I speak from experience.
