Default Door Lock Issue

Just recently, my rear passenger door does not lock/unlock with the door controls or remote.
I checked the child lock setting, and that is still in the normal position.

Is there something quick/easy I can look at or fix?

Any ideas?

Thanks

First I would check for DTCs from the BCM with FORScan or diagnostic scan tool. Simple code readers usually only read PCM DTCs so they won't work. I would next remove the door panel and check to see if the door lock actuator is getting power and ground. The power and ground reverses to lock or unlock the latch. If the actuator is getting power and ground, then the actuator is bad. If it is not, you have a wiring problem. Wiring problems may initiate a DTC from the BCM as well.

Similar occurred on a 2020 XLT F-150 on the front passenger door, upon putting the vehicle in drive all doors automatically locked as they should except the front passenger door, likewise the same door would not lock or unlock with the drivers side lock/unlock button. Since I just acquired this vehicle back in October 2020 I had to bring it to the dealer, the conclusion was the actuator for that door was faulty and had to be replaced under warranty.

Just as a FYI, Ford extended the warranty for the actuator to 10 years.

I'm planning on taking the door panel off and doing some investigating, just too hot and humid right now to do it.
Came out of no where, was working fine 1 day and it was dead the next.
Window is working fine, ambient lighting is working fine, just the door lock stopped working.

My 2015 did that. The dealer had to take it apart and fix. It is part of the freezing door problem. It was all rusted.

Ok, so maybe my first stop should be the dealer to see what they say.

I'll take the door panel off and give it a look too, maybe something simple. Just waiting on the 90 degree temps and humidity level to drop a little.

FYI the dealer repair is part of the freezing door lock recall. At least it was for my truck.

Two separate issues. Freezing locks campaign 18N03, power door lock failure campaign 20M04.
