Default Door Key proximity Sensor

How common is it for the door key proximity sensors to go out? My passenger door will no longer unlock or lock when I have the key in my pocket. I tried holding it next to the door and still bupkiss. Driver's side works perfect. I'll take it in since it's still under warranty just curious if this is common. I assume the dealer will have to order parts and doesn't stock any of that.

Not that common. Several people have claimed that a good cleaning solved the problem.

On the back side of the door handle is the sensor. Clean the black plastic area.

Well poop, I cleaned it with Windex both the front and the back and it works once again. Thank you!

My issue was a low battery charge as described in this thread. https://www.f150forum.com/f118/doors...handle-495895/
I did this exact same mod https://www.f150forum.com/f118/board...nstall-490957/ and will charge the battery if my truck sits while I'm driving the Mustang.

Thank you for sharing your experiences.
I was having the same problem... Passenger handle intermittently not unlock/locking until it stopped unlocking/locking completely.
Took it to the dealer. $154 "Diagnostic Fee" and they reprogramed the controllers and said it was good... it wasn't.
Took it back, then they said the door handle was bad and they would have to replace for $629 or so. (included painting the new door handle trim to match the truck.) Hmm, I bought the part myself... no change.

Then, I got smart and looked on the F150 forum... and I found this thread. Charged my battery and it works.
I'm going to the dealership next week to share the solution and lobby for my "Diagnostic Fee" back or maybe a couple of oil changes.

As Rosanna Rosanna-Danna used to say: "It's always something"

The computer when it detects low voltage will begin to shut down modules to save itself. The passenger comfort access is one item it begins to shut off. You may find the driver side still works but over time that will be shut off as well.
