Easiest way is to pop them off and paint them. The covers do not seem to be available separately. I searched.

For mine, I popped off the chrome covers, scuffed them a bit with scotch bright, wiped them with alcohol, and then painted them body color. Used adhesion promoter, base coat, and then clear. They came out perfect. Black is even easier.

Thanks, I really hoping not having to paint them but that might be the only option just dont want to mess them up.

It was scary prying them apart enough to come off, but they came off without an issue. Putting back on was really easy.

I may buy one of the Dorman aftermarket handles and try this. I have chrome handles and really would like to have the black ones on my truck.
