Door alignment
#11
My drivers rear door was way out of alignment with the cab corner trim. The service mangers stands back and says 'you don't need glasses to see that, its way out, we'll adjust it'. And they did. Now you open the door. It drops down 1/4" or more and makes it very hard to close. Now I notice the passengers rear door opens and drops also. ???? very discouraging.
Yeah, almost every time I get in to my truck, I see this door misalignment. Luckily there's no wind noise or rattling yet.
I don't know if the dealer's body shop can do it right since the offsets are uneven. Driver door top is 1/8" higher, middle(in way of chrome window trim) is 1/4" while in the bottom of door has less than 1/8" higher than the back seat door.

My doors were out 1/4 inch on drivers and a little less on passengers. Took it in and tech adjusted it perfect. I was getting a little rattle on passenger door so took it in and asked them to just move the striker in a bit to tighten. Well they adjusted the hinges a lot! The back of the front door was rubbing the front of the back door when opening. It rubbed the paint off the edge of the doors. The body shop had to remove and repaint both passenger doors completely as they are tri coat. Very pissed off that doors were not aligned in the first place and now my factory paint has been deflowered. This is my first (Ruby) red truck and am now worried what it will look like in a few yrs being exposed to UV. Will most likely have a red truck with 2 pink doors. I really think my dealer should go good for an extended warranty package for the screw up causing the repaint.

Mine was the complete opposite, took a torn, loosened the striker and tapped it in about 2 mm and all is well! But seriously, how does this get by Ford QC?

I didn't realize how big of a problem this is. After looking at mine closer I think the bottom is being pushed out by the seal that needs to relax a little.

Kstewy I had a '94 F150 that I bought new-tuxcido black. When I looked at it on the lot. Someone had opened the door on F250 parked next to it and put a small dent in the door like the size of a dime, not huge but a little ding. I pointed it out to the salesman. He said oh we'll take care of it. I didn't really think about it again as I was buying it to plow with. I had them put a Fisher snow plow on it and I went to pick it up. The salesman showed me they fixed the dent and repainted the door. Apparently the truck had faded sitting on the lot for a year because as time went by year after year. The drivers door was bright shiny black. The clear coat must of been better or just a year newer , I'm not really sure. But when I sold it 17 yrs later body rusted very badly , plow still worked AND yes the drivers door was 'shiny black' looked like new compared to the rest of the truck. I'm not sure how long you keep your rides. Me 3-4 yrs then trade, but with the repaint. I'd bet over time. You see a difference.

How to replace my 2014's front door hinge (not the pin)
Gale force wind caught my 2014 driver side door and bent the lower hinge.
The bottom-rear of the door is ≈1/4" *out* (away from truck centerline) from the top-rear of the door.
New hinge assy arrived today. There are three clearance holes and one threaded stud on the cab-side of the hinge assy.
Question: how do I get to the "backside" of the hinge fasteners? Do I have to remove the left front fender?
(Those bolt heads are hidden by sealant and the door, so accessing those bolts is hard to judge without taking the door off)
Anyone know where I can find an exploded view of the door hinge-to-body assembly?

Both my driver side and passenger side front doors were out at the top. The driver side door would have so much wind noise and a squeak right next to my ear. Dealer had body shop realign and now there are perfect with no noise!
