Default Does the TPMS module automatically relearn tire locations

After doing a tire rotation as described in the manual (Backs to front. Fronts to opposite side rear). I expected to have to perform a TPMS relearn procedure where you turn the hazard lights button on-off 3 times then deflate each tire until horn sounds then re-air each tire.

But.. After doing the tire rotation and driving about 20kms the system seems to have figured out where the tires are now positioned. Is that actually true or my imagination? I didn't see that this would automatically relearn the locations in the manual.

Yes Virginia, there is a Santa Claus and the truck automatically finds the sensors.

Just have to drive it a bit.

Pecked out on my iPhone.

They are all on the same frequency. No relearn is necessary when rotating.

Like wise, whenever you make a change in Forscan, the TPMS is -- for all 4 tires, after a few blocks of driving, they all come back to life.

They are all the same but it was my understanding the truck does not know where they are (wheel location) until they are "trained" to it's location.

You put the left on the right side it's reading the same tire but the wrong location.

This was my understanding and don't have the manual in front of me to confirm either way. I'm just not convinced the location doesn't need to be relearned/trained.

I'm also saying I don't know that I'm right either.... I just think I might be.

They are "trained" when you drive the truck a block or 2. Having had custom wheels installed, I know first-hand that is all it takes.........

I agree. Seems to me there must be proximity sensors to learn which tpms sensor is where.

The tire shop guys (if they're up to speed) will usually use an electronic gizmo that they use to program the sensors after installing new rims or sensors.
