Distance to empty?
Searched but couldn't find a fix. My distance to empty has been off more times than I can count. Was at 3/4 of a tank but said I have 947km to empty. Not the case. Unplugged the battery terminal to reset the computer and is accurate. For now. If I refuel to where it sits at 999km it stays stuck there. Even though the gauge has visibly dropped. Is there an actual fix for this? I realize it's not the end of the world, but it still irritates me.
Read Post #1 of this thread. I manually logged fuel consumption for over a year (business tax reason) and corrected my DTE calculation and it is quite accurate now.

It's not necessary to log it for a year - a couple of tanks will do it, if your driving habits and environment are fairly consistent. I calibrated my DTE based on a couple tanks and now it's always within .1 mpg of my hand calculation.
I wasn't suggesting you needed to log it for a year. I am saying that it can be adjusted and be accurate.
yeah it maxes out at 999km. What I’m saying is it drops to almost 3/4 of a tank before it starts moving from 999km. Not accurate until I remove the terminal on the battery to reset it. It does this often. Either filling up the tank to not parking level with throw it off by at least 150km.

I had read elsewhere that metric versions would read four digits. Maybe not back in 2016 though. I am unfortunately saddled with imperial distances, which definitely max out at 999 miles not matter the model year of the truck.
Questions I would have before thinking something is wrong:
1.) What is your theoretical range if you calculate your km versus the distance you drive versus the size of your tank?
2.) Does the DTE read linearly once the gauge moves off 999km to empty? My truck reads 999 miles to empty, but once the fuel level drops to 7/8 or so, I get a linear drop in DTE. I've learned to live with not knowing my true DTE for the first 250 miles or so since I'm not too concerned with filling up at that point.
