Default Display screen not working below zero

Hey guys this is my first post here. my 2016 f150 xlt 2.7l ecoboost (65k miles) display screen in the instrument cluster doesn't work at all below zero. It just has the backlight on but no odometer or messages. This is the 2x2 screen. Anything above zero it works great. If i leave the heater on for about 1 hr it faintly becomes visible and then if i turn it off and then back on it works fine. I have called multiple dealers and i got the "never heard of that" line from them all and was told if they couldn't re create it there was nothing they could do. I checked the pigtail on the back of the cluster and it was clean and attached good. Any other thoughts? I believe the cluster was swapped out due to the truck being from Canada. But it is a ford factory part.

Well, the cluster guru is @Clusters by Livnitup so maybe he'll chime in. That said, that screen is a typical LCD... and the liquid crystal does get slower and slower in cold weather, to the point that it freezes. I'm just surprised it isn't happening more frequently to other people.

In the cold snap we just had I started my truck at minus 20 and it worked fine. Take this as a chance to upgrade the 8 inch screen.

Something is wrong with your screen. Started my truck at -31 F in the vortex in the last few weeks and the screen worked ok. Plenty of other folks on the board with even colder weather and there have not been mass reports of this issue.

I talked to ford and the dealership again. They said the cluster has a new faceplate on it due to the truck being from canada. So they said the cluster has been split open. they said replacement about $700. Im not paying that. Im just going to buy one from livnitup and swap it.

Stupid question but could a battery thats going out cause this symptom? The battery is marked mfg date in jan 2015, and it does crank pretty slow when cold.
