Default disabling auto dimming mirrors

Is it possible to disable the auto dimming mirrors? Now that I've had my front windows tinted it makes the drivers side mirror almost worthless. For some reason it decides to darken while I am trying to back into the garage.

For some silly (to me anyway) reason Ford has removed stuff from the sync system. Compared to my 2013 there are no longer any favorite presets for phone numbers, no way that I've found to turn off auto dimming mirrors, removed the 60 and 90 second selections from the headlight shut off times and you no longer can select driver and passenger separately in the seat heater/cooler setting on remote start. I'm sure I've missed a few others but only had the truck 3 weeks.

IIRC from other threads on this, other members unplugged the auto dimmer inside the mirror assembly.

But you can't do that for a few days after getting the windows tinted so a hard or soft switch to turn them off would be helpful. Not sure why they removed the ability to do so.

Don't see why you would put in a switch for a couple days use. If you want a switch put one inline to the power on the dimmer. Not sure what a hard or soft switch is. Mine are always plastic, I assume they all work the same though.

Boy is this thread going down hill in a hurry. Maybe I asked my question incorrectly. On my 2010 and 2013 FX4s you could turn auto dimming off. I thought I might be looking in the wrong spot for a way to turn it off so I asked my question.

1 suggested he always lowers the window. To me that isn't a great idea when its 28 degreesoutside with 45 mph winds and freezing rain like it was Tuesday morning

Another wonders why I want a switch for a few days. I don't, I want a switch to turn them off period without unplugging or cutting anything. And to answer his question a hard switch is the old mirrors that had a physical button you pushed for on and off. A soft button us the many things we can turn on and off in the instrument cluster or sync screen. It used to be there why the heck did Ford remove it?

Hard switch = actual physical switch

Soft switch = a switch through the touch screen or programming options

Just put a piece of tape over the inside sensor on the center mirror. The dimming is controlled by that sensor. It senses the light reflecting off your garage which is brighter than what the front sensor sees and darkens your mirrors.
