Dent in hood
Log truck slung something into my truck today and dented the hood pretty good.
Dent removal said that they could pull it out, but I believe there will be residual lines and also I see cracks in the paint.
anyone replaced a hood? What should I expect on parts, labor and paint for a new one?
This sucks pretty bad. Three week old truck with 2,100 miles

That can be fixed to look flawless or extremely barely noticeable with paintless debt removal (pdr). It's used very often here in Oklahoma. My 2012 F150 got the **** beat out of it 3 days after I bought it. $2k damage. They got every dent out with no visible creases or anything. There were easily 100-200 dents on my truck.....all gone.
A dent like the one you have would only be about $50-100 to fix.

That dent may be tough to fix with paintless dent removal because its right on that seam where the hood bends down a couple inches before it meets the grill. Let a paintless dent guy take a look and see what he says.
Any decent body shop should be able to fix that dent with traditional body work and paint the hood blending the paint into the fenders.
I don't see any reason to purchase a new hood.
Let the pro pdr and body shop guys take a look at it.
Make sure if its painted that they blend the paint into the fenders, painting just the hood will probably not be a perfect match.

You have nothing to lose with paintless dent removal. They typically do amazing work. If it were mine, I would go that route, and the slight chance you could still notice it, I think I would go with a bug deflector. I'm not a fan of having panels painted, rarely does the shop match the factory finish perfectly. Just my 2 cents

I agree with the above posters; try PDR first and see where that gets you. Most of the time it will around about $100 or so per dent. Much, much cheaper than replacing the hood and having it painted, or using traditional dent removal and repainting/blending.
