Question Deer Detector??

Past threads say a bunch of you hit a deeer with your truck. Lots of damage.

But what I would like to know: does the truck detect and try to avoid? Did the collision warning come on?

I am seeing deer just about every day now, in N FLA.

Thanks, Dave

There is not system in the truck designed to detect deer, no.

If the deer is standing middle of your lane, but most deer I have known just do not co-operate that much!
Best detection system is your eyes. KM

I've hit a couple and the best is a steel winch bumper ,they do pretty good with detecting and conquering deer

living in WV in the middle of nowhere....best deer detection was LED Headlights and Diode Dynamic SS3 Pro fogs....and of course pay attention and adjust speed.

Your eyes.
We have huge Elk along the highway and they will pop out in the blink of an eye. Collision avoidance systems are just not that sensitive to something smaller than a car rapidly coming into your path.
Just pay attention and drive accordingly during dusk to dawn hours when they are most active.

Here the deer usually leap out of the cornfields right in your path.

And you wouldn't want a system that slowed for stationary critters; not only would it make driving through some areas incredibly slow, but the chance of false positives getting you rear-ended seems rather high.

On the subject of winch bumpers, keep a close eye on the mounting system if you want to push or pull with it. The factory bumper mounts aren't designed to hold up to those fore-aft forces. Some bumpers have brackets that connect to another point like the tow hook mount bolt.

I'd think about getting a brush guard if you are concerned. Around here they just sprint out into the street and you have no time to react.
