Deep Sleep Mode Activated......WTH...?

Well....the dealership replaced my battery Monday 7-15 after two Deep Sleep mode messages . I checked the voltage the next morning and the new battery was showing 12.02 V . I gave it the benefit of the doubt since I had only driven it about 12 miles before parking for the night.
So....today....Thursday 6-18 ....I get another message in FordPass that the truck has went into Deep Sleep mode....AGAIN. Truck turns over fast and starts right up. But this concerns me. Service dept. wasn't too polite about me calling again about the low voltage in the new battery. Now they are saying that the FordPass app is new and probably can't be trusted that much. HMMMMM. Sounds more like an excuse to me. A truck with a $53,860 price tag should not have issues. But then again....they are mass produced on an assembly line....

I'd get the ammeter out and start doing some investigating. It's fairly unlikely, though possible, that you got two bad batteries in a row. Something not shutting down properly, resulting in parasitic power draw, would be another big possibility.

hate to say it but you might have a bigger issue. could be anything from the aforementioned parasitic power draw to a bad computer in the vehicle somewhere that's sending out this message. The hard part is not knowing if it's a legit power issue or not, but it sounds like it is if the reading is 12.02. Push back on the dealer just as hard as you have to. They must track this down.

Thanks guys. I'm gonna definitely let them know that I am not satisfied with a truck that I have owned for 3 weeks, that more than likely has electrical issues. Hopefully they will not have a problem with checking it out. BUT...that probably means being without my truck for a period of time while they run some tests. .

They kept mine all day. I ran mine on a reconditioning charger for AGM batteries for several hours before I took it in and have had no notices since. I think I will run on the charger again to see. The dealer pronounced 12.50v after their test. I have no idea what their test does but 12.75 ought to be a fully charged battery unless AGM are different.
We will see.

12.1 is what mine showed on a digital meter first time. After a couple hours on charger 12.6.

Hi Green_Bean - I purchased my F150 Lariat two months ago. I've received the "Deep Sleep Mode" warning twice now when the truck was parked for about 48 hours. Weather conditions definitely not extreme in either case. Do you have any updates since your last post?

Mine has done it eight times now. I contacted the dealership after the 6th time and told them that I was just going to contact corporate since no one seemed to want to deal with the problem. They then told me that they would contact Ford and see what they could find out. A week later, they said they had heard back from Ford...and was advised to have me bring the truck in and they would do a re-program and also check a couple of connections. I still have to call and make an appt to take it in. But when I do take it in...I am going to ask them about the "re-programming" . Because I'm thinking that they are just going to disable the Deep Sleep mode. I am going to let them know that I will be checking my software with Forscan to see if that is what they do...because that is unacceptable to me. That is the same as someone having a truck overheating...and the dealership disconnecting the temp gauge to fix it. I will try to get it to them this week and will post my results once I get things done.

Thank you so much for the quick reply and I look forward to hearing your outcome. I am going to call our dealer's software guy to see if he knows anything. If I find anything useful, I will post it.
