Ford doesn't care
I have gone to 3 dealers with the same response an update is coming in early January

here are to memos from Ford:
Yup, they are working hard on it.
Sawgrass Ford in Sunrise Fl support to know how to repair this - that was a joke
I did get a call from Ford today 01/21/2021
they are going to call me Monday to see how and if it can be repaired
It's still under warranty so let's see what happenes Monday

What's the purpose of your post? Your vehicle has a problem, Ford is aware of it, they're working on an update. Seems pretty clear. Frustrating maybe, but clear.

You make it seem like this is a serious problem, you misguide us by putting "Deep Sleep Forever" in the title (Deep Sleep is a battery maintenance mode), but the problem is you can't get an automatic update to the truck.

Is your truck otherwise behaving oddly? If not, you don't need an update. If it is, you can get the update at a dealership.

Default It may not be a serious problem

But to me it is. With Covid - 19 going around my grandson I am traveling the country doing school work in the truck (his school is closed till further notice)
I thought with the permission of his parents we travel around the country doing school work. Looking and recording historical sites for him.
Ford has no idea how to repair it. The software in my truck is up to date.
Two dealers say they can do nothing about it. The other like you say it's no big issue, but they can't repair it.
But to this old man is a big serious issue, I paid for the item and the service it should be repaired and in working order.
Try calling Ford to see what they say every one of them has a different response.
To you, no issue but for me sorry it is
Thank you

Docs made it seem like the issue is the message Vs the feature.

If I used my truck's hotspot, it would have to come through my phone, which can also hotspot, so I've never bothered setting up the truck. Is there any reason the OP can't hotpot via their phone? Not seeing how the trip would be affected, or why OP can't get by until a fix comes in.

I don't think any of us know what the OP is complaining about exactly. If it has to do with hotspot his comment about being an issue since 2016 is invalid since vehicle hotspots first came about in the 2018 model year.

The vehicle can't connect to its own hotspot. Thats a known fact/designed that way.

The hotspot only operates if the vehicle is on. Again a known fact/designed that way.

The title is deep sleep forever....a search of the OPs posts show he has complained about his 2018 going into deep sleep often. More searching shows he is running a dash cam off the obd port which would leave me to believe the dash cam is powered all the time. This will lower the battery level and put the vehicle into deep sleep much quicker than normal.

I'm just spit balling here cause I don't know what the OP is complaining about exactly.

Now if he is having issues connecting to the vehicle hotspot from a computer or tablet or something while the vehicle is on then okay...thats a problem.

OP help us out here.

You've been able to hotspot since at least MyFord Touch, which my 2015 came with.
