Default Is dealer correct?

I have a 2017 STX that I fitted a non-Ford remote start to.

I want the dealer to deactivate the double honk (so that I'm not waking my neighbors up at 3.30am) but they say it cant be done in Forscan as its a non-Ford unit. Is this correct? My understanding was that the horn is deactivated in the vehicles electronics not the remote start electronics.

As soon as I read "Is dealer correct" I knew the answer was no.
Maybe if you talked to a dealer 30 years ago they would have had an idea about the cars they sell but now the odds are slim.

They can do it.
I just bought the remote start thats from 12v connection that doesn't honk. My dealer charges $115 to hook it up to a computer and to do anything, so paying $199 for the plug and play remote start with no honk was cheaper.

A Ford dealer is not going to use a program that is not authorized by Ford to do anything to a vehicle. It doesn't make a difference what part of the electronics the programing is in.
Whether they can disable it using their program IDS I don't know.
When I installed a aftermarket remote start in my girlfriends Nissan, I was able to disable the horn with the software they supplied with the kit.

If the aftermarket remote start is honking the horn then no Ford cannot change it.

I cant imagine a customer asking a dealer to change something with software that isnt ford....
Thats like asking Microsoft to fix something in Linux using Android.....
Never ask a dealer to do something you can easily do on your own.
If you can use windows you can Forscan, simple as that.

Are you using the factory remote for the aftermarket remote start or a remote that came with the remote start kit?
