Neighbor has forscan so we changed a few things on the touchscreen. Swapped the startup animation from “Ford” to the “Raptor”. Added the climate control button to the touchscreen that is virtually useless but it has completely fixed my APIM problems. Touchscreen works fine whether the phone is plugged in with CarPlay or not. Not sure if I just bought myself some time but it’s worked great so far.
I'll have to try playing with of those settings. A few questions: When you say the APIM went bad, was it completely dead/black? Did the radio/ACM work at all? Did you replace the APIM or update the firmware?
thanks

It powered up but was mostly unusable. Had the GPS icon with the red line through it. The radio worked but you either couldn’t change the volume/station or it was very delayed. After backing out of the garage, the rear camera would stay on the screen until I did a soft reset or turned the truck off.

Never replaced the APIM. Ford wanted $1k. Found some cheaper but never got to it since the Apple CarPlay was fixing the problem. All I did was replace the USB hub to accept Apple CarPlay, updated the sync 3 version from the original to 3.0, and then those forscan tweaks.

I finally got around to taking it into the dealer to get their opinion before buying anything. $150 later, they told me it was the APIM and would cost $1700 (CDN) through them to fix. I ordered one on ebay ($300, including exchange and shipping)...it arrived yesterday. Replaced mine, wrote the AsBuilt back to it and everything is working perfectly. Thanks very much for all the feedback and help!!
