Default DC outlets - on all of the time?

Still figuring everything out, just got my new 16 Platinum last week. For the DC outlets, it seems (unless they are time delayed) that the outlets are always powered, even when the vehicle is off and locked - is that accurate? I had originally thought I could keep my Verizon LTE hotspot in the center console plugged in so it would power up when the truck was on, off when off. Am I missing something, or is there no real way to do this, except switching it on/off manually? Thanks

not sure if the 12V are the same, but the USBs turn off shortly after you exit the vehicle. Opening a door turns them on for a short period of time.

I have a radar detector plugged in to my 12v dc outlet in the center console and it stays on after shutting the truck off and closing doors, but then after a short time it does eventually turn it off because the next time I go in the truck it is off and turns on when I start the truck. Not sure how long the delay is but it does turn off eventually.

They are time delayed, will turn off.

Here is how to keep them on: https://www.f150forum.com/f118/12v-o...ut-off-334083/

You can set the timeout delay to whatever you want with FORScan. You can have it turn off after 1 second of vehicle off or leave on completely.

Which way did you go in regards to fixing it? Forscan or the fuse mod?

Thanks,

Well, I just mean my problem of not knowing how they are powered on/off. Now that I know they are on a time delay, I can work with that. I do want to look into Forscan also - got a lot of reading to do on that

Went with the fuse mod. Took 5 minutes.

Actually the part I didn't think through it that when the hotspot is plugged in to power, it is in charge mode, but since it has a battery, when power is cut, it just goes over to battery...so I guess the power switching things is kind of moot for my application. Good to know how it works though...
