Default Dash Camera Wants

I have my Rexing Dash Camera connected to switched power so it only comes on when the car is running. It shuts off fairly quickly after power is cut to it. Too fast in fact. I'd love for it to run for say maybe an hour after I shut power off to it. But I don't want it running 24x7 and I don't want to have to start/stop it every time I get in. Ideally I'd like a camera with 2 connections. Once constant and 1 switched or else some sort of intelligence where it knows (like via GPS) if it is moving and turns off say an hour after it stops moving. Is there any solution out there for my wants?

There are a lot of dash cams that have "parking mode" that use wires for both a constant and switched power. I have a Garmin 55 that has parking mode. It does need a cable for parking mode to be bought separately though. That's the first dash cam I've ever used so not sure if it's the best bang for the buck right now.

I just plugged mine into the 12 volt power source in the console. The battery management system keeps those hot for I think it's 75 minutes after turning the truck off (or shuts them off if battery voltage goes too low of course). I'd consider upgrading to a higher end cam while you're thinking about it

Ah ok so it is "parking mode" that I am looking for. I also like that power magic pro I think that could be the solution I go with. I wish it would go for less than 6 hours at the minimum though. Primarily I am just interested in the hour or so when I get out of my car like at a store. Also concerned if I get into an accident and car is shut off for whatever reason the recording stops. That time after an accident happens seems like it would be good to record.

Dash cams have one of two types of internal power storage, capicators or batteries. Capacitors are more desirable because they don't swell in heat like batteries. However they last only seconds after losing power, where a battery may last 20 minutes (depending on the model).

BlackVue has several power options including an OBDII adapter for constant power, or an external battery.

We've been using at my office for years. No issues. Can set the delay.
