Default Damaged side mirror - do I need to replace the mirror motor?

Hi,

I clunked my driver's side mirror on my 2015 Lariat with BLIS.

The glass was not cracked, but it started wobbling badly as I was driving.

Turns out a pice of plastic has sheared where the glass is attached at the center to the motor. I have highlighted the broken part in the first pic. It looks like the case of the motor to me.

The second pic shows the back of the glass part of the mirror.

Can anyone tell me what replacement part to purchase, please?

Thanks,

ft.

Yeah, looks like a new Motor may be all you need. Hard to completely tell from the pic, but looks like the backside of mirror glass and tabs are intact, just the plastic center on the motor Sheard off?

I believe the motors can be bought new, on ebay, from Ford dealers for less than 40.00!

Thanks... looking to order a motor.

Getting that round bit off the back of the glass was tricky but this guide helped... http://www.putco.com/documents/instr...le/401161I.pdf

BTW, getting a warning that BLIS is malfunctioning and is turned off. I guess that is to be expected with the mirror removed!

OK, so I think the part numner is 6U5Z17D696D.

I got this by looking at fordparts.com

However, they VERY unhelpfully have about 8 different models of the motor all with the same shorter part number of 17D696. I assume this is to make comparison shopping difficult.

I found the longer part number by looking at the source code of the page. If anyone can confirm this is the correct pn for a lariat with BLIS I would be grateful.

Thanks,

ft.

Part arrived & mirror is fixed in good order.

I didn't realize how badly the motor had sheared until I saw the new one.

The motors are more expensive if they have memory.

Took about 15 mins in total.
