Default Damage to tailgate.....

Not sure when or how but while I was making coffee yesterday morning I noticed this....

Any ideas how much this will cost to get fixed? Wondering if it's worth filing a 'claim' over.

Go get an estimate then decide if it is worth filing a claim. Estimates are free and do not require a file with insurance. Personally, I would bet you could remove the inner panel and pound that out yourself.

Well, since you have a 2017 that you've put money into with accessories, I don't know why the first place you call wouldn't be a body shop.

I guess you could take the other suggestion and just try to pound it out with a hammer.

I didn't indicate that I would not get it fixed.....my question was the approx cost and if it's enough to file a claim over.

If it's $2000 to fix, I'll file the claim and pay the deductible. If it's $300 to fix, I'll just pay out of pocket and not bother filing a claim.

You're not going to be able to pound that out, at least not without it looking like crap. I think you're going to get a have to get a new tailgate, at least the shell and then it'll have to be painted to match so my guess is you're definitely up over a thousand.

Because of the stress opening and closing that is a replacement. Mostly parts and about 2.0 hrs labor and paint also probably about 2.5 hrs with clear coat. I'm not sure of BS labor costs in your area but I would guess it's going to be in the $700-900 range.

I was going to say about $1000. Same reasoning as above.

Most likely the tailgate was down and the truck was backing up...
