Daily driver?
I'm thinking about moving on from my Jeep GC to an F150. How many of you use it as a daily driver? I'm in a Durham NC, a mid-sized city with all the fun parking problems downtown of any city. How cumbersome is it to park in a parking garage? In typical downtown parking spaces?
How does it feel to be a daily driver with nothing but kids to haul around during the week? (It'll get more use hauling other stuff on the weekends.)
And, at the risk of starting a flame war, 3.5 or 5.0? My current Jeep is the Ecodiesel, so there's a bit of turbo lag and regardless of whether I get an F150 or not, I'm thinking of moving to a gas engine for my next vehicle. If I were to get another Jeep, it'd be the Hemi.

I drive mine daily and have driven trucks for many years for daily drivers also, they are more difficult to park but you do get used to it. I find one thing that helps is to get 3" spot mirrors and put them over the convex mirrors that are there from the factory so it is easier to see the lines on the spaces. As far as engine get one with enough power to do what you need to do, I have the 3.5 eco boost because I tow a travel trailer in mountanous areas. I wouldn't get the standard 6 cyl. because it may be tough to sell.
I think it's a great daily driver and I drive about 90 miles rt per day in Houston traffic. Roomy, quiet, comfortable. I love it, my kids love it too, so much room back there. I have the 2.7, great little motor. Shouldn't have much of an issue with parking garages....Even with my 4" lift and 33's I can still clear 6'-8", which is most garages.
if i even drive it is my daily. sits around alot during the week. come school time it will do the 3-5 miles a day. but like many others i have only drove trucks for years. tried buying a few different cars at various times for different reasons. just don't like to drive cars lol. i only drive the wife's car to the car wash or for maintenance.
as far as the parking. get one with a back up camera and reverse in every where u can lol lazy style. i need 80" min for my roof to clear.
for the motor? 3.5eb or 5.0. either is good and it is what ever u like.

I went to a F150 from a Ranger and I live in an apartment. My only complaint is with the difficulty I have parking it at the apartment. Mostly my problem is with the trucks that are bigger than mine.
You'll get really good at driving higher up in the parking garage and backing into spaces. Yes, much larger and takes more time to park but all of that is easily overlooked by all the positives and your back seat passengers will be blown away at the legroom and comfort if you go with a super crew. I went from a MDX to a Tahoe and to my F150. Would have saved a lot of time if I had done this years ago.
And I"m not going to touch the Eco vs. 5.0...
