Most incentive/rebate programs state that in order to use them, the vehicle must be pulled from the dealers inventory on the lot, not from a vehicle that has to be ordered.

However, if or when an ordered vehicle arrives and there are new rebates/incentives and if the model of vehicle that was ordered falls into the specific program, then the incentive can be used.

Have a good day.

Please look at the attached incentive protection program. I used it with no issues on my ordered F150, but I did have to educate the dealer on it. It is a valid FoMoCo program.

As I stated above, you can "Lock" the incentives when you order and choose from those or those offered when you take delivery. Feel free to call Program Headquarters to confirm. I had to coordinate this for my dealer to ensure I got it. Much
to contrary belief, a "Private Offer" can be locked.

Back to the OP question - have your dealer track the history of what's on their lot now. I was 6 weeks from order to delivery, but I'm 250 miles from Dearborn. The majority of that time I was waiting on a VIN/Dealer allocation. If your dealer doesn't have the allocation you can be waiting a very long time. A high volume dealer near me can get a truck in 4 weeks if you time it right.

Thanks for the info from 2011 but seeing info for the 2017 incentive programs/requirements for consumers and not employees would be more helpful to the OP or anyone else.

Also, my statement was made based on what I hear on radio/TV commercials and what one can read in print media and online at a Ford dealer website and on Ford.com

Have a good day.

My info was based on my purchase in June of 2016, program is still valid and thats the only info I could find for it. It worked for me, shame on you if you don't want to lock in incentives based on available programs that most dealers aren't aware of. FWIW, I don't work for Ford, just trying to be an informed consumer and share my knowledge!

how does it work to special order a vehicle from ford, receive it at a dealer then negotiate a sales price? Seems like the dealer would have more leverage in the negotiation.

I went in with my build, negotiated a price based on a dollar amount below invoice and rebates. Also negotiated a price for my trade in, allowing for miles to be added before my special order truck arrived. Just had to keep her below 36k miles. Had to take the wife's car a few days to make that happen.

No different than a deal on an in stock vehicle, although you have a bit more bargaining power if you can take it home right away. It's all about how you negotiate!

I negotiated the numbers before I had the dealer place the order.
