great research thanks!!
I don't know of any good reason to leave system wifi enabled at all (unless if you have a 2018 with mobile hotspot); however, after you complete any update over USB you will want to enable wifi momentarily to complete a 'scan for updates now' to eliminate one of two annoying popups which will appear upon ignition start.
In the autoinstall.lst file I started tagging myself to track where my files actually go when I send them out to friends. It would look like this but no red:
;Gen 3 - Assembly Update - NonNav/NA - 18025 - FRASER
However you managed to install 18025 before March 17, 2018, I'd say there is nothing to worry about.

Read this, doing this right now myself. The first part succeeded, attempting 3.0 install now.
**EDIT**
Successfully flashed 3.0 Non-Nav. If you're having issues follow the link above, should help in clean flashing 3.0

JR3T-14G423-BA =1.23 GB is my version of Gracenotes
JR3T-14G391-BD =1.53 GB is my voice
just 2 examples 18025 non-nav
3 usb drives now and the update won't start with any of them. Nothing happens when I plug it in to either of the two ports in the dash cubby.
The file I am using is right from my owner's site for my F-150 and I extracted them to a 32gb drive newly formatted as exFat. I feel like I am missing something or is the update process just that picky about drives?

My guess is HB5T-14G387-AAB is an embedded utility considering it is 5.34KB which might play in to future OTA updates. Fords servers now request more criteria from hosts (an extra 60 bytes) when retrieving update requests. It could be anything though.
Also this is the first time Ive ever seen a .zip file from Fords server. Ive never seen the updates so neatly packaged for us like this.
Thanks Ford!
