******************
Date Confirmed: Nov 1, 2017 Version: SYNC3 v2.3
JL1T-14G381-AJ
This software release is the latest update in our continued efforts to improve system performance, device connectivity, and the overall SYNC experience.
This software contains all previous enhancements, so there is no need to install any other updates. The installation of this update will take up to 60 minutes to complete. DO NOT remove your USB drive or turn off your vehicle. You must wait until Installation Complete is displayed on the center screen before removing your drive or turning your vehicle off.
While the update is loading, SYNC will not recognize your mobile phone or media device. Be sure your vehicle engine is running (not in accessory mode) throughout the entire installation process. Although your vehicle must be in park when you initiate the installation process, once the download process has begun, you may drive your vehicle.
*****************************

I just did a search on JL1T-14G381-AJ, and absolutely nothing popped up for search results. I see reference in this thread to Sync3 v3.0. No updates were offered through Ford Owner. Anybody have any idea why my new truck seems to have a version nobody else has?

Sync v2.3 comes on all 2018 F-150's - my recommendation is to turn off automatic updates until they get their software glitch resolved, many of us who already have the 2018 F-150 had FordPass and the modem become inoperable back on 10/06/2017 because of an update that came down over automatic updates, Ford still has not resolved this issue

I guess I could have been more detailed Ape, iPhone 6s Plus, currently updates to iOS 11.1, and I know jailbreaks are still in process so I cannot do it now, but I’m wondering if waze works with a jail broken phone? Also, you mentioned YouTube, that doesn’t show the vid on screen does it? I use YouTube with CarPlay daily, but only to stream the audio of course, but I have to control almost all functions on the phone itself.

Just read the last several hundred posts.

I'm a tech guy and no stranger to screwing around with OS mods. Also **** about getting the latest and greatest first. But in the back of my mind I've always known that if I screw the pooch, I can always go back to stock and start over (no matter how many hours that might take).

I have been that guy (read so many posts, can't remember his name) who spent countless hours monkeying around with config files trying to get back to stock (hats off to you for figuring out how to downgrade from 3.0).

But somehow with Sync, this feels different. My car is a necessity. I rely on it, and the tech inside of it, daily. Above all, I rely on my car to keep me safe while traveling. In the back of my mind I keep going back to that Defcon presentation on modded automobile software. There are a bunch of a-holes in the world, many of them brilliant mental cases, not to mention state-sponsored terrorists, who could conceivably build a high body count with maliciously crafted Sync 3 software. Build trust on a board like this with lots of knowledgeable posts over time, eventually post an "unreleased future update" that at first blush seems to work great and adds features. People post about how great it is and how well it works. But it actually carries a hidden payload that activates on 9/11 and causes a bunch of cars to lose control once speed exceeds 50 MPH.

So no offense to the many helpful, honest, trustworthy and knowledgeable people here......but after reading through all this, I think I'll try to resist my strong urge to immediately tinker with core software in my vehicle, and I will patiently wait for an official 3.0 release.

Not trying to preach, just trying to provoke thought. To each his own.

Who knows.....in another month I could very well give in to my urges and self-upgrade.

Eloquently-stated and insightful.

Since having devised and publishing the v2.2 rollback procedure, I have left mine at v2.2 for now; I desire a reliable infotainment and communications system. Moreover, the non-QWERTY keyboard in v3.0 sucks. ;-)

Default How to downgrade..

Connecting doesn't do anything, and though I enjoy the snappier response I'm hoping to downgrade without paying the dealer.

Dang man I dont know... With that mentality, you really shouldn't even leave the house. Maybe the mail man has been earning your trust this entire time and the next package you get is a bomb? Or will all lights in the city will turn green at exactly 6:00pm causing major car accidents? Maybe they hacked Amazon and have all your personal information and your money could be gone by the weekend?

I get it, safety. I'm huge on safety as its about 90% of my day time job. But are terrorist *really* going after SYNC 3 from Ford and planning on killing large numbers of people? Much easier to get a gun/truck I would think. To each his own my friend.

I just checked and my install history is now reflecting v3.0 (17276):

Edit: v3.0 has been running perfect since install.
