***Solution***
I have several issues trying to update from v1.1 to v2.2 (Non Nav) but I think I may have determined why.
Here's what I've tried:
An 8gb flash drive formatted for exFAT and FAT32 with installation files (6 total). I tried to install them as Ford directed with no luck. I get an error stating bad installation file or no space available when it reaches the second half of the installation files.
Ive tried installing files one at a time as mentioned in this forum (6 total). I get the same error mentioned above.
After pretty much giving up I returned to Fords site and downloaded the zip file again (I downloaded the previous zip file two days ago). This time I noticed only 5 files (1.05gb compared to 2.15gb with the previous zip) with 2 files in the first half and 3 in the second half. I returned to my vehicle and performed a master reset and installed the files from the new download and everything worked!!! I now have v2.2!

When I first attempted to upgrade a couple of days ago the Gracenote version was lost and my firmware went from v1.1 to v1.0. After this update to v2.2 I confirmed that I have a Gracenote version number again and full functionality of Sync voice and Iphone Siri.

And if you don't have a trim tool, a paint can opener works real well.

I tried again after re formatting the 32G thumb drive in exfat and following the instuctio9ns to the T .. did not turn the key back on for 13 minutes. and still the same thing.. voice recognition not ready.. no AA and the unit has lost it's voice. So I guess I'm don't until Ford calls me back. I tried calling them again with my case # and they said they were researching the problem and would get back to me this week... goody.. they will just likely tell me to go to the dealer.. which will be another week waiting to get in .. pffft.. not happy.
I was having the same problems as you. Tried installing from the Ford website. Tried it maybe 10 times yesterday. I then used this download, where you have to install one update, then install a second update and I now have everything working, I changed out the USB eariler, so Apple Car Play is now working also. Hope this helps, I don't think it can hurt.
