This might be a little overkill for some but I always keep a prepaid cell in my glovebox in case my regular cell disappears or gets broken. For those that hate Apple Maps and like google maps better, you can probably just throw a spare cell in the glovebox for that use. Honestly, I have no idea what the Sync system would do if you had both Apple and Android connected but I still think it would work.

Can someone please let me know what post# or page# I can find the link for the software upgrade from 1.0 to 2.2? I've been through at least half of the pages and can't find it. I did find the original one on page 38 but that link is no longer good. Thank you!

No climate will not show up after the upgrade, I assume more hardware is involved in this section. Personally I don't think you can go back if you were to stop the operation before your told to. In fact you may damage the unit permanently. Now following the README file with the updates you shouldn't have a issue. You have to be patient with the upgrade you may think that it is hung because all it says is that it is updating! As I stated mine took 20 minutes to get disk one installed and a additional 14 minutes to install disk 2. Stopping before your told to will probably "brick," your unit. As I wrote the only thing that I found that could have been a issue with mine was formatting the disk to fat 32 and 4096 bytes per sector. I used some brand new thumb drives and I happened to catch they were not formatted in 4096 bytes per sector out of the pack. That if the reason I recommend reformatting them before you unzip the files on them. I hope this has helped you. Richard

CarPlay connectivity issue:
I have a 2016 XLT that I upgraded to Sync3 2.2 (Factory Nav)
I have an iPhone 6s
- after updating the Sync, I plugged my iPhone into a newly purchased USB hub, and I had CarPlay working as it should. The next time I used the truck, I plugged in... and nothing... Upon plugging in, a CarPlay icon would briefly illuminate on the top right side of the of the phone... then a pop up appeared indicating
"This device in not supported by this iPhone". After the initial time I plugged in, CarPlay would work, randomly, about 20% of the time.
- I've tried multiple Apple cables
- I've only used Apple cables
- visited Apple retail store, where they did a settings restore. (After that restore, CarPlay worked once)
- Apple called to check on their repair/solution and now I'm a completing a factory restore. Apple suggested a complete restore then to try connecting to CarPlay. If still not functional, they suggested checking with Ford.
*** I have also tried 2 other iPhones and have had the same result each time (3 phones in total) after the initial plug-in, no connectivity on the second attempt.
Now for my questions:
1 - can I attempt the Sync 3 upgrade again?
2 - the USB hub has a disclaimer on the parts label which indicates "SCRAP IF DROPPED"... could the USB hub be damaged? It was sent through the USPS.
Any thoughts?
TIA
Tom

I noticed something today and I don't think the radio did this before the update. When I shut the truck off the radio shuts off as usual. Here is what I noticed today. If I open the truck and press the power button with the truck off, the radio turns on and can use it as if I had the key with me and was in accessory mode. Anyone else see this?

Do you mean opening the door immediately after opening the door has shut the radio off, or even after the truck's been off for a while? (Just curious as there are lots of things that I've wished worked without the key before, but I understand the safety reasons they make it so)
