Nobody's looking for crash bars in a state inspection. They're looking for broken windshields, missing wipers, lights that don't work, missing emissions equipment, etc. Crash bars are not on the list.

they market it to be lighter than steel. they don't market it to be stronger. either way, 5 stars > 4 stars, and that's why they added the crash bars.

I said better not stronger. You added the word stronger. Ford added crash bars to get 5 stars and compete and not get potentially sued. Let's be honest, ford would still sell just as many trucks without crash bars,; oops they already have been for decades.

i hate to ask you to re-read what you wrote, but you were the one talking about which was stronger, steel or aluminum, and then said ford markets the aluminum as better. i made a leap based on what it seemed like you were implying. either way, nobody's talking about sales numbers, we're talking about whether the crash bars add crash protection, and they do. continue debating whatever you want with yourself.

Of interest
The Raptors do not come with crash bars due to the larger OEM tires

and the stronger front end suspension components, the different placement and strength of the shock mounts, etc. it's not just a tire size thing.

I lived in CA for 24 years and know what's on the inspection list. The person looking at your vehicle wouldn't know a crash bar if you hit them over the head with it. The only reason they'll look underneath is to see if you have missing catalytic converters.
