most people are cutting the rear crash bar and un bolting the front and removing them. The best option like what i had done was get some power spreaders and spread them so the tires wont rub.

thanks, was wondering also if any one had any pictures of their modified crash bars as well... just don't want to lift or level it if all possible.

I know there was a thread a while back where a guy cut like half of the rear crash bar off and welded a plate back on it to cover the end and sharp edges up. it looked factory just a few inches shorter

If you do anything to modify the crash bar, you will probably find your insurance won't cover you in an accident, Ford will void any and all warranties on the front end, body, front suspension, etc, and if memory serves me, in Canada you violate Federal and Provincial safety laws and Canadian officials are sticklers for safety violations.

Just something you might consider. That crash bar is one of the reasons the 2016 F-150 got 5 star safety rating in crash tests.

Why not just wheel spacers and leave the safety features alone?

i dont think i need wheel spacers.. they stick out past the fenders with the rims i'm using. (pro comp 32 series with -6 offset) . but yeah never thought of that either... just hate how they fit my 2013 with just trimming plastic and on the 16 they hit steel. im just not sure what to do yet, just trying to find cheapest option and keep my wheels.

I have to agree. Compromising structural vehicle safety in order to fit a set of tires baffles me, but to each his own.

its not what i want to do, but when you already have the rims and tires just makes it easier to ask and find a solution. i don't think that the crash bars are bad, makes real sense that they are there, but just really like the look of the truck with out a lift and the offset rims. if all else fails, i think ill be looking at getting the ready lift leveling kit and possibly the blocks for the rear. i'm not sure if a lift would void my warranty either though.

I used a ram and spread them out about an inch total. I think it it will have minimal effect on safety and visibly it is not noticeable at all. Took away about 95% of my rubbing issue. The only rubbing I get now is going over a large bump in reverse at a decent pace (the bottom of my driveway).

After getting hit head on and totaling my 13 STX scab, it is beyond me why anyone would do anything to compromise the safety of their truck. Screw the big wheels and tires, I'd rather be around to enjoy my truck for years to come. If you haven't experienced airbags going off in your face-consider yourself lucky.
