Default Crank sensor

Hello all,

2016 Platinum 3.5 ecoboost

Was driving the other day and the truck lost all acceleration. It took me a sec to realize, the engie had shut off around 45mph.pulled over, tried to start and, it would just turn over, no start.
Had the wife bring my laptop so I could check it out with Forscan Didnt see anything right away, cleared all codes and did a PCM reset.
After about 30 mins of overall downtime, the truck fired right up. I quickly limped it back home, stuttering and shifting funny.
Get home and shut it off, wouldnt start back up. So, I did a more indepth look and found it to be the crank position sensor.
Being somewhat mechanically inclined, I figured, ehh, it cant be that difficult, Ive built engines before.... Boy was I wrong.
Hats off to the engineers at Ford, for putting the crank position sensor at the rear of the v6 motor, instead of on the crank snout like the rest of the civilized world.
Wathcing cideos I see people saying 3ish hrs..... OK no sweat. Took me about 1.5 hrs to get it out. Cool..... then, I spent the night, trying to figure out how to get the thing back in..... I cant get it to ligh up and drop in where it belongs.
Ive given up. Figure I'll end up taking it to the shop. Odered updated manifolds from 5 star also, since it needs those too.

To anyone that has changed the crank sensor before, How on earth did you do it?

Shop manual says to remove the LH turbocharger and heat shield to get at the CKP.

Haven't dropped the turbo. The videos I saw, they said they were able to do it without.
Since it also needs the manifolds replaced, I'm just gonna let a shop do it.

Such a pita, that's for sure.

Yea so..... after getting a couple quotes and watching videos, I'm gonna do the manifolds myself and, just do the sensor once that's all off.

Dealer quoted me approximately $2500 in labor alone.
I know it's gonna take a while but, I'm pretty sure I can make it happen.
that.once the manifold and turbskie is off, the crank sensor should be easier to get to anyways.

If I have to replace manifolds, this is what I'm going to do:

I would go with Full race before BD. they actually have a performance enhancement as well.
