Cracked windshield
Driving home yesterday morning and heard the dreaded "WACK!" On the windshield of my truck, couldn't see any damage from the drivers seat and thought I dodged a bullet... That is until I turned the defroster on last night and watched the glass crack from the drivers side wiper blade spread across the glass
Have an appointment to get it replaced next Saturday at Speedy Glass. I'm 40 years old, owned a vehicle since I was 16, and this is the first broken windshield. So I guess it's hard to complain, except this is by far the most expensive truck I've owned lol.
Anybody have any horror stories I should hear before it goes in for replacement?

Yeah, here's one - In Florida they tell you it is "free" to have your windshield replaced because it is illegal to drive around with one all cracked.
I called and they said yep, no charge for getting your windshield replaced. Even sent the repair guy to my office and I watched him do it.
About a year later I decided to change insurance companies - you guessed it. When the new company pulled my history, the "free" windshield was listed as a comprehensive claim.
Curious, I asked the agent to give me the quote and it was $250 per year higher than without the claim. The comprehensive claim stayed on the record for 3 years.
So you might want to check before you go the route I did.
Sad part is, the guy replacing the windshield gave me his card and told me to call him direct next time. He said the F-150 windshield was so common it was one of the cheaper ones he installed. This was in my 2004 Lightning and he said he could have done it for me for $185...

My previous F-150 (2004) went 150K without issues. My 2016 has a broken windshield after <2K miles. Would like to chalk it up to some bad luck, but it seems like you definitely see a lot of posts about these windshields!
Replacement quotes I've gotten so far are ~$350 installed.

I replace the windshield on my daily driver (Honda) on average every fifteen months, but I do rack up a lot of freeway miles. I've never paid more than about $225 for glass, even on a BMW.
