Default Correct socket to remove lug nuts

I plan to replace the factory lug nuts with McGard chrome lug nuts. I would like to keep a ratchet and socket in the truck, to use if needed.

Lug nuts:

Amazon Amazon

is this the correct socket:

Amazon Amazon

Truck is a 2020 F-150 with 18” chrome wheels.

those do appear to use a 22mm socket.

I have one of these in all mine and my kids vehicles. It comes with 4 different sized sockets. It fits them all from my F-150 to my Focus ST.

I suggest you check that actual product when it arrives. Take it to the hardware store and match it up with a socket.

Also, check the factory lug wrench to make sure IT fits the new lugnuts.

The correct socket size for both stock lug nuts and the Gorilla 61148CXs is 13/16s (20.6mm). You could use 21mm, but you risk damaging the lug nuts over time, especially if you clamp them at the factory setting of 150 ft/lbs (I use 120). You can definitely tell the sloppier fit between those 2. By the way, the factory wrench fits both perfectly as well, and it's just as long as a Gorilla telescopic wrench, so I'm fine with the stock wrench. I'd NOT use a 22mm socket at all.

So I went to Harbor Freight and bought a cheap long bar and a 21MM and a 22MM 6 side socket to keep in my truck. The Ford brand locking lugs that came with my truck from the dealer need the 21mm, the OEM lugs seem to want the 22MM.

except the linked lug nuts aren't 61148s but 64073s and Gorilla says to use a 22mm socket on them.
