I admit I have only briefly tried the seat cooling (2 or 3 times for an hour each), they work. Bottom definitely cooler than the back, but personally not sure I want more cooling in either area. I respect that others may not feel the same way, and of course many live in hotter parts of the world. I frequent this forum at least weekly and I enjoy reading the experience, questions and ideas from other members. I am indeed amazed at how many have posted on this thread and to be perfectly honest I did become confused as to the direction it took. Trying to convince Ford that their product is flawed is a valiant and important task, but that has not what this thread has become. My interpretation of what has happened is that Tim and another member (sorry I can not recall his name, and correct me if I am wrong but he seems to have gone silent) initially worked with Ford to address the seat cooling issue. When that fell apart, the thread became a forum for information, customer inquiry and feedback regarding Tim's product. I have nothing against Tim and free enterprise and in fact I applaud his effort in engineering a product designed to address a Ford product defect. BUT, if this forum allowed all merchandisers to use this forum for the purpose of advertising, notifying and responding to their customer inquiries, we would tune out quickly. This is not meant to be an affront on Tim and I understand that the evolution of this thread has likely not been by design., however it reached a point in my opinion that it needed to be identified. Sorry Tim if you feel my comments are hurtful or out of place. I encourage you to carry on, but we all need to respect the purpose of this forum. Just my opinion. I will not post further in this thread. Respectfully.
First of all thanks for your expanded reply, you don't sound like such a huge D-Bag now. I can understand where you're coming from. Second I think one important thing to remember here is that Tim didn't come here looking to sell the kits, he didn't even have a "kit" to sell. He was working with Ford (and defending them for a long time, a lot longer than I would have ) during the process. I think we were all impressed when we found out Ford was working with it's owners directly and thought Ford had opened up a new avenue to deal more directly with customers concerns. In the corse of that evolution is when his parts came up in conversation and that Ford would hopefully use them or something similar in a recall. When Ford chose not to we begged Tim for months to sell us his parts. He did us all a favor by agreeing and taking his time to put together a "kit" for us. He in no way was like a vendor soliciting business.

I've followed & read every post in this thread since I've joined because I have these seats. I realize a forum is for discussion and this thread has definitely covered discussion all the way up the eventual resolution of this particular subject.

You either:
1. Live with it and hope Ford comes up with a fix that works before your warranty runs out
2. Purchase and apply Tim's fix

What else is there to discuss at this point?

1. Different ways people have installed the kits.

2. More pictures of installed kits.

3. Hints on how now not to get cut while installing the kits.

4. General chatting with friends on this thread.

5. Advice for newcomers asking questions..

Are some that come to mind.

I agree with all of those, just saying that the guy I quoted seems to be bewildered/upset that the main gist of the thread now is about Tim's kits when that is the only known solution that works.

So, I tried my cooled seats today on my truck that I've had for a week now. I'll preface this by saying I've never had cooled seats in a vehicle until now.

I turned on the cooling at full setting and almost immediately felt the cooler air start flowing. The seat bottom and lower back felt about the same coolness. I could feel cool air up to about the lower part of my shoulder blades. I ran it for about 30 minutes total.

I was wearing a t-shirt and cotton pants. I would imagine that certain clothing might have an effect on how much air one feels. If I was to wear a jacket, I'm sure I wouldn't feel the back very much.

I felt the back of the seat and it was noticeably colder than the passenger seat which was off. No hot spots that I could detect.

The performance of my seats felt exactly the same as my friend's 2014 Explorer that I was in recently.

Just thought I'd share my initial impressions.

If your trips are always 30 minutes or less you are all set. I'm one of those that take longer trips and need mine to work much longer. Without Tim's exhaust kit the seat back interior will keep building up heat to the point that the seat back will stop cooling.

Yeah, I probably would never use them for more than 30 minutes. I wouldn't be able to stand the cold air blowing up my anus much longer than that for one thing! LOL.

I usually only run my heated seats for a max of 10 minutes. Just until the truck interior reaches desired temperature. I've never viewed the seat climate systems as something to run for hours on end. Different uses I suppose.

Heated seats are nice for long drives/trips. Keeps your butt from going numb. During the (S. Florida) summers the cooled seats are even better. Gotta keep the nards cool and dry.

Almost sounds like your not married! Or your wife isn't like mine. Want to trade?

If the seat backs cooled as good as the bottoms than we wouldn't have to freeze our butts while trying to keep our backs from sweating.

LOL. Yeah, I've been happily married for almost 25 years. My wife does tend to turn on the heated seats on full and leave them on.
