Coolant Loss
Seems like every Ford vehicle I have ever owned uses a small amount of coolant periodically. The dealer says this is normal. About every 10,000 miles I have to add a small amount to keep it up to the minimum level. Anyone else see this as well? I have a 2015 Ford Focus with 90,000 miles and two Ford F-150's (one with 2.7 and one 3.5). All use a little coolant.
That is what I thought too, but my son has a 2013 Ford Fiesta since new and it does the same and here at work we have a fleet of F-150's and almost everyone started out at the full line and in 20,000 miles or so they are all just a tad below that. Not low by any means but lower
You add coolant to reach the ''MAX'' line in the coolant overflow tank and after 10k miles, it's down to low?
That would mean you'd have either a leak in your cooling system or a bad head gasket, but that's uncommon for 3 vehicles in a row, and I don't believe it can ''evaporate'' even though the coolant go through heat cycles a lot of time.
Also, do you always measure the level in the same conditions (IE, cold engine, vehicle leveled, etc.)?
I would monitor that for sure, to make sure the ''small amount'' needed doesn't become a ''bigger amount'' over time
