Consumer Reports
Not sure why this would surprise anybody. There are a lot of problem areas on these trucks and Ford has done little to nothing to fix them over the model run. And the build quality of my truck is embarrassingly bad, like 1980s bad.
When I wanted a new washing machine in the house, I got the CR account again as I had used them in the past. They rated the best of the best in new high efficiency washers. But the response of people who actually bought these washers was that they were the worst thing to happen to clean clothes ever designed. CR was pushing some liberal agenda rather than what actually cleans clothes. I checked consumer feedback and found that Speed Queen made in the USA washers were top consumer rated brands for cleaning. They did not even get a mention in CR.
How did you come up with that from reading my post? Every company, every organization, has an agenda, a reason for their existence. I've been a Consumer Reports subscriber for over 30 years. Every issue of their magazine has an editorial page wherein they state their agenda - which is to test consumer products and recommend ways to make them better - especially safer. So yes, they downrate the reliability of Tesla because that's what subscribers report. And yes, they push hybrid and electric vehicles (almost always highly recommend them) because their editorial staff believes that's what is best for most of us. Has nothing to do with a liberal agenda or conservative agenda or politics.
Back to CR and F150 having bad scores. Not surprised at all. I had a 2016 XLT and now own a 2019 Lariat with a loads of issues that most folks already listed above. Well, I experienced 'em all...mostly. These F150's are amazing trucks...when all systems work the way they're supposed to. Sadly it's far to be always the case.
I’ve used consumer reports for perspective on various purchases and never had an issue. It’s important to get your information from multiple sources, including those with competing agendas, to form a better understanding of the big picture.
As others have pointed out, it’s entirely possible the Japanese cars are more reliable. Having worked in product development I would discourage anyone from taking on the belief that Americans innovate and foreigners copy us. If you think a Japanese truck has never found its way to a Ford engineering lab or led to design changes in the F series, you’re in for disappointment. Benchmarking is a standard practice worldwide.
Despite being named the national socialist party, the ***** preached fascism. That lands on the far right of the political spectrum. Objectively speaking it would be more appropriate to call that a right wing agenda rather than liberal. Beyond that, many safety features indeed improve safety. Insightful, I know.
