Default Is the console shift gear indicator supposed to illuminate?

I get lights on every little button except the P R N D M next to the console shifter.

Is this normal?

Do a search on this site. It's come up several times. Some have it some don't. No ones come up the reason why. I have a 2017 XLT Sport with floor shift and it does light up.

This is Ford maximizing profits by cutting corners and removing the little things. My 2015 XLT's console shifter lights up. This was indeed brought up before.

My Lariat 502a was built on 3/18 and it does not light up. I started a thread on this around 6-7 weeks ago when I first bought it. Ford's does find a way to cut corners.

My 2017 which I picked up in April of 2017 does not. On another forum someone was asking the same thing. I thought they were made not to do so. I however wish mine did. I have only had a few times that im not in the right gear/position. I go by feel a lot.
