Confirmation on resonator delete
I am looking to delete the resonator on my:
- 2020
- v6
- 6.5 bed
I see the kits on-line (incredible markup)...some around $150 bucks. I was looking to order the correct pipe to replace the entire, GL3Z-5A212-B. I have seen people cut the pipe...but I would like to replace it from fitting to fitting.
Otherwise looks like I would need:
- Exhaust Pipe with flange 57" 2.5 "
- 2.5" to 3" adapter
- 2 muffler clamps
If there is a thread on this...can you direct me to it.

Your going to experience alot of high tone rasp, I'd recommend replacement with an aftermarket resonator. The rasp will show itself each time you throttle up and echo into the cab. At first it didn't bother me, but as my daily driver, trying to have a conversation became a battle. On the highways ... I tried to stay of the throttle. After about a month... I had it welded in
3" x 26" resonator from MBPR
the rasp isnt too too bad now. Ran 3" pipe from the collector to the aftermarket muffler. Its better now, nice idle tone, inside is mellowed but obvious still. You hear the exhaust passing thru underpasses or when I get on it.

The sound is so dependent on other things that most comparisons are moot. Otto talks about high tone rasp yet my own tuned 2.7 without a resonator and 4 inch pipe from downpipe to exhaust tip does not match his description at all, to my tin ear.
Various speeds and RPM, steady cruise to accelerating, in the cab at the steering wheel radio, turn signal, and road noise to compare. Some may not like the sound, but high tone and raspy??? My wife and I did a 6000 mile roadtrip last spring to western mountain states from SE WI, and comfortably carried conversations 70/75/80 MPH, for long periods of time.

Yeah.... mine was louder.
And of course..... i didnt just remove the resonator.
3" stainless steel straight to baffleless ( unchambered ) muffler, the muffler split down to 2.5 and out the back.
the stock muffler does help to tame sound, i did look into a baffled muffler ( 3" and 2.5 out ) some time ago.
I would go to a muffer shop as mentioned, they would do what you seek for cheaper and on the plus side... they will weld it in.

As stated there are a LOT of things that affect the sound. The video is of my 2.7 with a Pypes 4 inch catback, no resonator, full 4 inch straight thru large round muffler, 4 inch tailpipe to a side behind the wheel exit. I thought if would be very loud but not so. May be the standard cab with small internal volume? Only gets loud with vigorous footwork on the pedal. Here is a WOT on ramp run

I had a 2014 Tremor 3.5 Eco RCSB that came from the factory without a resonator. It sounded the about same as my 2011 Ecoboost until you really put your foot in it then it had slightly more growl to it, but it didn't drone at all.
