Default Compelling Reason to Keep Factory Diff Cover

This was interesting. It's something I have never thought of before. Gale Banks explains the importance of the design.

yeah I've been following this on youtube. it is very interesting and informative. makes me even likely to keep factory diff cover more than i already was. there is millions of trucks on the road with the factory diff cover with not one problem.

One irrefutable truth with aftermarket parts: you’ll find just as many people telling you not to run them as you will telling you to run them.
My personal experience with diff covers...I’ve ran them since the early 90’s with zero issues and run one on my truck today. I like the B&M with bearing supports, same as I ran on all my high power cars when I was younger. Pick your horse and ride it.
On another note...Gale has been an acquaintance for 12-15 years or so. I’ve been around him quite a bit as well as know some of the drivers for his various diesel projects. If I’ve learned anything it’s that he likes to talk and he likes to talk down other mfg’s. I don’t put a lot of stock in most of what he says.

Blah, blah, blah, that's 19 minutes of my life I'll never get back.

I admit I like my B&M diff covers and deep sump aluminum transmission pan because they look cool. Nothing wrong with that.

To each his own.

Good videos with solid points but they definitely could have been about 2 minutes long each.

I found his points to be without sales pitch. He has nothing to benefit from telling us to keep what the truck came with.

Exactly... I have this diff cover because it is badass looking. Absolutely no other reason. If anything, it hurts performance because it is on the heavy side.

I bought a mag hytech, which may actually provide some slight benefits, but I can't bring myself to take the Ballistic Fabrication cover off.

It’s one thing to talk down other manufacturers, but to go out of your way to spend probably 10’s of thousands on testing products in an arena he doesn’t compete in.

I’m in for the results, the testing seems pretty thorough and transparent. I doubt he’d open himself up to litigation just to down talk these companies, too.
