Kept the factory supplied CAI, did remove the "vortex twirlers" no noticed difference. Did not really expect any. KM

You can have your placebo in salt or sugar. Pick the one that tastes best to you.

After so many threads on what a waste aftermarket CAIs are, you would think people would learn!

I didn’t remove mine but I heard if you did, it will sound a little better.
But as you can see, you’ll get haters when you even mention aftermarket intakes..
300$ to dress up engine bay and change engine tone a little =waste of money
3500$ for lift, wheels, tires (along with worse mpg) so you can take your truck to the mall/grocery store=not a waste of money?
But as you can see, you’ll get haters when you even mention aftermarket intakes..

To you a CAI dresses up an engine bay while to others it's a magic pill to give hp and mpg. To some it is just a display of ignorance. The OP never stated what he was wanting to accomplish with this mod. Nobody hates anything, just differing opinions with some based on fact.

Brew city boost did a test with a cold air intake, with and without the silencers and with the stock intake. Stock intake with the silencers worked the best. Most hp and torque everywhere on the graph. So I would leave them in and only do the intake for the sound. It’s not for performance on an ecoboost.

Certainly appearance is as good a reason as any. I personally do not care. Performance and form for function make me smile more. Hence no aftermarket CAI, or a bunch of other things. As to the "twirlers", I talked to Casey at BCB about the dyno comparison and while he posted the results, considered the point of that being moot and withing error range. Didn't cost anything to pull them, noticed no change at all so have not bothered to put them back in. KM

People must not realize the stock intake is a CAI. The snorkel on top of the radiator serves two purposes. It's mounted as high as possible for deep water and it takes in outside air forward of the engine compartment which makes it a CAI.
