Hi y'all,

My 2018, 2.7 has been showing on and off check engine light and today I had it scanned. The code is P0471 - exhaust pressure sensor range/performance. Anyone else experienced this before? Can I fix it myself?

 

how many miles? i'd be taking that right to the ford dealer

 

Hi guys, I have 39,000 miles. I'll call dealer today.

 

I called the dealer and was given the usual run around of "they don't know the answer." I have to take the truck in for them to run the diagnostic, cost of $155, $135, can't remember. Then, if the problem falls under the emission warranty the diagnostic fee is waived.

 

Most likely a bad exhaust backpressure sensor, can replace the sensor to see if it fixes, they are typically $70 from Ford. Haven't felt any surging or low power conditions I presume, which would be a sign of the backpressure actually being out of range.

 

Is that something easy to replace?

 

You need a better dealer. There is a TSB for the issue. If I can find it with a simple Google search, they should for sure be able to find it. TSB 19-2257

Update, took her in today. They ran the code and confirmed it was the backpressure sensor. Fixed under warranty, no more check engine light.
