Default Clunk at Start Up?

Anyone else get a clunk sound from underneath during start up?

Happened once a couple of months ago, now its happened a couple of times in the last few days.

Edit: Used the search function, and I guess this is not an uncommon problem. https://www.f150forum.com/f118/singl...383628/index9/

Looks like you have the 10 speed automatic IIRC someone mentioned it had something to do with the start stop set up in these 10 speeds a pump or something.

Yes, definitely have the clunk startup. The only way I seem to be able to keep it from doing that all the time is by setting the parking brake first and then putting the truck in park. 90% of the time it doesn't clunk.

2018 5.0 w/ 10 speed

My 2018 5.0 has this as well. I was hoping the transmission recall would solve this

So I have the same clunk at warm startup, and on occasion its on cold startups.
I have taken it to the shop 2 times in the past and it is currently in the shop now for the sound.

Its a 2018 5.0 with 10 speed
Issue started about 4k miles
has 7k miles on it now
It made the noise regardless of the parking brake was engaged or not.
During the troubleshooting of the truck, starting it and shutting it down repeatedly it started lunging forward which was odd. The wheels did not move more than a few inches, but they thought that was extremely odd and possibly unsafe.

Right now I am dealing with the service manage and shop foreman for the issue. The service manager heard the noise for the first time and was in awe. At first they thought it might be a vacuum issue and then said after further investigation its coming from the transmission. The service manager reached out to ford engineering regarding the issue and is working with them on a solution. The transmission is currently out of the truck and as soon as I hear what their path is going to be to correct it I will post here as well.

Did you get a resolution for the clunking?

My 18 suffererd from the occasional clunk upon start up, it seems to only do it if I have used the start stop feature prior to shut down. I always turn it off and now I hold my foot on the brake for roughly 5 seconds after shut down and havnt had a clunk. Imo I truly belive it has something to do with the start stop system and trans pump. I only have about 2400km on the truck but disabling *** and holding the brake after shut down has seemed to elimate the issue thus far for me

Interesting, is that after you put it in park or before? I have disabled start stop already.

Default Clunk

I was wondering if it was the hill start assist? My 18 5.0 also does this.
