Default "Chrome" wheels peeling

2016 Lariat with 80K. This is happening to all four wheels but this one is the worst. Anyone else having this problem? I hate having to spend $1000+ because of cheap OEM chrome cladding.

Thats why I'll never buy the PVD wheels.
Theres a number of threads on here about peeling "chrome" as its not real chrome or traditional chrome as some of us are accustomed to.

Anyway...my advice is get them sandblasted, then get them powder coated in a nice gloss or satin black.

Or a perfect time for a rim/tire upgrade. You have thousands of choices. Also if you are set on OEM style you can go eBay buy a set of gently used or powder coated factory rims and trade or sell your originals for a better discount.

Can see that happening if you hold a power washer right on it. Either way, another case of Ford going for the cheap optipon.

Rather unfortunate but well documented. I was surprised to see the OEM wheels are made in China.

If you like any of the painted OEM style wheels you may be able to find some for $500 or less and swap your tires over if needed.

I found a brand new take off set of sport rims on Ebay for less than $500.00 shipped.

These are my favorite factory wheel by far. I have a set in my garage that I just removed when I upgraded. For sale ironically.

The painted OEM are readily available but unfortunately with the Lariat chrome package they won't look right so I am stuck paying more. Probably going to bite the bullet and look aftermarket.
