Default Checking the oil in the 2016 2.7 EB engine

I don't know if its just me or does everyone have the same trouble checking the oil in the 2.7 EB?? I wait for a 1/2 hour or so after engine shutdown before checking the oil but when I thoroughly wipe the dipstick and put it back in place to get the oil level, when I pull it back out to read it the whole dipstick is so covered with oil that it is really hard to tell what the level is. I never feel really sure. This is the first time I've run into such a problem checking oil. It's not rocket science.

Does anyone have any tips, or is this something I have to live with??

I let the oil in the tube drip overnite.
I wipe the stick and put it back before going to bed.
In the morning I take the reading.
You only have one chance, no second dip.

?? You can check it as many times as you want, as long as you gave it enough time for the oil to drain back into the pan.

I typically wait 20-30 minutes or so. You do get oil on the dip stick, but you can usually clearly see where the oil level is.

Well, that was simple. Should have thought of that. Thanks for the replies. I'll try it tomorrow.

Like jd50i said, check it cold.

Waiting 30 mins after it runs, eng and oil is still hot (ok, not in the winter) but best showing on any dipstick is with cold oil.

Check it just before you use it the next day. Wipe stick off and do a quick stab and pull it out (still checking the oil here) and that should give you the best view of the oil level.

2015-2016 F-150, 2016 MKX And 2015 Edge - 2.7L - Appear To Have Low Oil Level

Some 2015-2016 F-150, 2016 MKX and 2015 Edge vehicles equipped with a 2.7L engine may appear to have low engine oil level if the proper procedures are not followed. Refer to the Owners Guide, Maintenance, Engine oil check section. When checking the engine oil level after shutting off the engine wait at least 15 minutes prior to checking in order to allow the oil to drain back to the oil pan. The engine oil level can be checked immediately if the engine has not been started. When changing the engine oil the engine needs to be at normal operating temperature and the oil filter removed before draining the oil. Allow the oil pan to drain completely for up to 5 minutes. Check oil level after filling by following the oil level check procedure.

I know about the 2.7 that 15min is required to drain all the oil to the pan, but believe me, even if I wait 30 minutes or 1 hour, there is always some oil from the tube smearing on the dip stick.
I don't like to guess for something important like oil level, so I do the overnight procedure. It gives a perfect reading every time.
